FORT WAYNE, Ind. --- The Ave Maria volleyball team went 0-2 on day two of the Liz Lykowski Memorial Invitational hosted by Indiana Tech. AMU concludes the two-day event with an 0-4 record and fall to 13-15 on the season.
 
Playing in the morning match, the Lady Gyrenes were unable to get things going against Indiana University East. The Red Wolves won in three sets, 25-11, 25-15, 25-15. Maria Mendez, Hannah Wurster, and Lexy Smith each had four kills for AMU. Veronika Garcia finished with 13 assists.
 
The Lady Gyrenes hit at a -.055 clip with 20 kills and 24 errors in 73 total attempts. IU East had 39 kills on 77 attempts with 14 errors to finish with a .325 hitting percentage.
 
In their second match of the day, AMU fell to Indiana University Southeast 3-0. The Blue and Green fell 25-16, 25-20, 25-15. After scoring six kills with nine errors in the first set, the Blue and Green started to turn things around in the final two framesm combining for 23 kills to 10 errors.
 
Bre Holder had eight kills to lead the Lady Gyrenes against IU Southeast. Lexy Smith finished with three blocks. Garcia and Lauren Ruby each tallied 12 assists. Monique Rivers had nine digs to lead AMU.
 
The invitational concluded the Gyrenes non-conference portion of their schedule. AMU went 12-8 against non-conference teams this season.
 
Ave Maria returns to conference play on Oct. 30 when they travel to Miami Gardens to take on Florida Memorial University. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m.
