Box Score BOCA RATON, Fla. --- The Ave Maria men's basketball team fell at Lynn on Saturday night, 84-52. For a second consecutive night, AMU was within striking distance, 43-34, after 20 minutes of play before the NCAA DII opponent overpowered the Gyrenes in the second half.

Martez Harris led the Blue and Green with 14 points and seven rebounds, both team highs. Exor Torres added nine points to go along with six rebounds and a team-high five assists. Johnny Minervino had seven points and four rebounds for AMU.

Lynn was led by David Johnson who finished with a game-high 27 points to go with nine rebounds. Vieux Kande amassed 17 points, 16 rebounds, and three blocks for the Fighting Knights. Ben Berry finished with 13 points while Donnavan Hastings added eight points and 13 rebounds.

The Gyrenes shot at a 26.1 percent clip while Lynn converted 39.5 percent of their shots from the field. Ave Maria finished with 16 turnovers while Lynn turned the ball over just three times. Lynn held a 22-1 edge in points off turnover. Lynn also had a big advantage in points in the paint, outscoring AMU 32-12, and second chance points, 19-1.

Ave Maria scored the first points of the game, a jumper by Martez Harris before Lynn went on a 19-3 run to take 19-5 advantage. AMU settled down a few minutes later and cut were able to cut the Lynn lead to seven, 19-12, on a three by Brandon Dean at the midway point of the half. The Blue and Green were able to keep the deficit to single digits for most of the final 10 minutes, going into the half trailing by nine, 43-34.

With AMU trailing 46-38 early in the second half, Lynn went on a 12-1 run to extend their advantage to 19, 58-39. The Fighting Knights were able to continue to add to their lead over the final 14 minutes to make the final 84-52.

Ave Maria will return to their court on Tuesday when they take on their third of four consecutive Sunshine State Conference opponents in Rollins University. The game is scheduled to tip at 6 p.m.
