Box Score BOSTON, Mass. --- The Ave Maria women's basketball team used a huge first quarter to rout Fisher College on Friday night. The Lady Gyrenes jumped out to a 26-8 lead after 10 minutes en route to an 81-47 victory against the Falcons.

The Blue and Green came out firing, making seven three over the first two quarters of play. AMU made nine threes in the game. Lauren Gillingham went 4-of-6 from behind the arc. She finished with a game-high 23 points and nine rebounds. Kandice Smith tallied nine points against the Falcons, with all of her points coming via the three-ball.

The Lady Gyrenes also held a significant advantage on the boards, outrebounding Fisher College 69-37. AMU had 29 offensive rebounds on the night. Saje Schlatterer and Yvanessa Vincent each tallied 2 boards. Schlatterer also finished with seven points, three steals, and three assists. Vincent added eight points for Ave.

Taylor Lindsey finished in double-figures with 13 points while also collecting five rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Andrea Mauger added six points and eight boards for AMU.

The Lady Gyrenes defense held Fisher to 19.3 percent (11-of-57) shooting on the night and forced the Falcons into 21 turnovers. Fisher was just 4-of-28 from three. Fisher did hold a 21-14 edge at the free throw line.

Aliyanah McIntosh led Fisher with 15 points and seven rebounds. Murphy Carroll added 13 points while Madison Carroll had 11 points.

Ave Maria returns to action tomorrow afternoon when they take on Pine Manor College at 1 p.m.
