Webster Pulls Away From Gyrenes In Second Half

FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. --- The Ave Maria men's basketball team fell to Webster, 60-47, in the a neutral site contest in Ft. Lauderdale on Sunday afternoon. Ave Maria led 27-26 at the half but were outscored 34-20 in the second half in the loss.
 
The Gyrenes shot 28 percent for the game and were just 5-of-29 (17 percent) from the floor in the second half. Webster shot 45 percent on the afternoon and shot 52 percent from the field in the second half to pull away from AMU.
 
Nate Krimsky led the Blue and Green with 14 points and eight rebounds. Brandon Dean finished with nine points while Martez Harris added eight points. Exor Torres finished with seven points, five rebounds, and four steals.
 
The teams went back-and-forth in the opening half with the lead changing eight times before Ave Maria took at three point lead just before the half on back-to-back baskets by Brandon Dean. AMU held a 27-26 advantage at the half.
 
With Ave trailing by one, 30-29, early in the second half, Webster went on a 21-4 run to take a 51-33 lead on the Gyrenes. The Blue and Green weren't able to cut the Webster lead back to single digits over the final several minutes, eventually falling by 13, 60-47.
 
The Blue and Green return to the court on Tuesday when they welcome Spring Arbor to Tom Golisano Field House for a 1 p.m. start.
