Lacrosse Defeated By University Of Bridgeport

Box Score Orlando, Fla. - - The  Ave Maria Women's lacrosse team was defeated by the University of Bridgeport 19-2 on Tuesday afternoon at ESPN Wide World of Sports in a non-conference game. AMU is currently 2-7 overall; 2-3 in the NWLL.

Bridgeport raced to a 14-0 first half lead and never looked back. Ave Maria was able to get on the scoreboard in the second half with goals from Catie Cox and Elena Mendoza. Mendoza had an assist on the afternoon.

Hannah Camerota registered 10 saves, as she continues to improve her save percentage on the season.

Kelsey Hughes continues to play well as she had four ground balls and two caused turnovers.

"We are playing an extrmemly ambitious schedule for a first year program and I am proud of the improvements we are making. Hughes has been playing great for us defensively, and Camerota has been playing comopsed and confident as of late.The great thing about this team is that we have different people stepping up each and every game and I am excited to play the rest of our schedule.", said head coach Kelly Buikus

AMU Lacrosse will be back in action on Sunday at 12 p.m. against conference foe Columbia College. This will be the last home contest of the 2015 season.
