Baseball Takes Down Bethel, Wins Third Straight

Gyrenes Top Bethel For Third Straight Win

Ave Maria, Fla.—On Wednesday afternoon the Ave Maria baseball team picked up a win against Bethel College by a core of 11-6. The win was the Gyrenes third consecutive win, as they improve to 9-12 on the season.

GAME RECAP

The bats came alive early for AMU, putting up an eight run first inning. There was no looking back from there for the Gyrenes who held the lead for all nine innings of the contest.

Aaron Pigna (Miami, Fla.) and Sean Trymbiski (Doylestown, Pa.) were two of the top offensive performers of the day. Pigna was 4-5 on the day with two doubles, a triple and two RBI. Trymbiski had three hits on the afternoon including an RBI of his own. Freshman shortstop Ryan Keegan (Estero, Fla.) also added two RBIs.

For the visiting Pilots, Heath Brooksher (Marion, Ind.) and Nicholas McDonald (Waterloo, Ind.) each had a double and Jonathan Shembarger (Barrien Springs, Mich.) added a solo home run.

Sergio Miyares (Coral Gables, Fla.) picked up his first win of the season going 5.2 innings, allowing five earned runs and striking out three. Ralph Lenzi (Allendale, N.J.) came on relief of Miyares and gave the Gyrenes 3.1 innings of three hit baseball, allowing just one run and striking out three.

UP NEXT: The Gyrenes will enjoy a day off tomorrow and be back in action at Bowie's Ballpark for the beginning of a weekend series with Spring Arbor University on Friday afternoon.
