Men's Soccer Preview

AVE MARIA, Fla. – The Ave Maria University men's soccer team returns to the pitch this week for two home matches to begin their regular season slate. The first game for the Gyrenes is scheduled for Thursday afternoon at 4p.m. at Ave Maria's North Park versus Florida College. It will be a quick turnaround for the Blue and Green as they will then return to action for the first game of a home and home set with Trinity Baptist College on Saturday afternoon.

This week marks the beginning of a new chapter in the history of AMU men's soccer, as head coach Antonio Soave takes to the sideline for the first time as head coach. Along with the new coaching staff, Ave Maria's 13 freshmen will get their first shot at collegiate soccer action.

Key returners for the Gyrenes include seniors Dan Lomady, who led the team in goals and overall points a year ago, and midfielder Carl Bishop who returns to anchor the midfield as captain for the Gyrenes once again in 2015.

Scouting Florida College
The Falcons of Florida College enter Thursday's match with a record of 1-1 on the young 2015 season. A defeat at the hands of Dalton State in their opener and a 1-0 victory against Florida National over the weekend bring them into their meeting with the Gyrenes.

Florida College is also carrying a young roster this year made up of seven freshmen, 12 sophomores, three juniors and three seniors.

Scouting Trinity Baptist
The Trinity Baptist Eagles have been a program on the rise over the past few seasons in the NCCAA. Established in 2013, the Eagles head into their third season of competition.

In 2014 TBC set the bar high for their programs future with a final record of 16-6. They finished in 4th place overall in the NCCAA while scoring 86 goals and allowing only 25 on the entire season.
