Men’s Soccer Routs Trinity College (Fla.), 15-0

AVE MARIA, Fla. --- The Ave Maria men's soccer team scored early and often in a 15-0 rout of Trinity College on Sunday afternoon. The Blue and Green scored eight goals in the opening half before tacking on seven more in the second 45 minutes.
 
The Blue and Green move to 1-2 on the year with the win.
 
Adam Roberge got the scoring barrage started with a goal 11:28 into the game off a past by Fabrizio Bucco. In the 26th minute, Julian Cruz found the back of the net and then less than minute later, Bucco tallied a goal to make it 3-0 Ave Maria.
 
Bucco scored two more goals over the next several minutes to make it 5-0 in favor of the Gyrenes. Bernard Carollo added two goals in the first half and Alvaro Gomez-Garcia scored a goal for AMU to make it 8-0 heading into the break.
 
Dan Lomady got the scoring started for AMU in the second half with a goal in the 51st minute. A few minutes later, Julian Cruz, Bucco, and Branthon Rodriguez-Rojas each netted goals for the Gyrenes. Back-to-back goals by Jorge Sierra made the score 14-0 for the Blue and Green. Carollo added a goal for AMU to bring us to the final of 15-0.
 
Ave Maria outshot Trinity College 34-5 with 15 of those shots coming on frame for AMU.
 
Bucco led the Gyrenes with four goals and an assist. Carollo recorded a hat trick and had an assist for AMU. Sierra and Julian Cruz each netted a pair of goals.
 
Andrea Salomone picked up the win for AMU, allowing no goals over 36:04. Michael O'Donnell played the final 49:12 and made three saves. The two combined for the shutout.
 
The Gyrenes return to the pitch on Tuesday when they travel to Hialeah, Fla., to take on Florida National for a 5 p.m. start.
