Warner Pulls Away From Gyrenes In Second Half

LAKE WALES, Fla. --- The Ave Maria men's basketball team fell in a conference matchup at 11th-ranked Warner on Wednesday night, 76-59. AMU trailed by six, 36-30, at the half before being outscored 40-29 in the second half.
 
Exor Torres and Nate Krimsky each tallied 15 points to lead the Gyrenes. Julian Adams added 12 points and nine rebounds. Brandon Dean had 10 points and five assists. Martez Harris finished with seven points and nine rebounds.
 
AMU shot 40 percent for the game and were 14-of-19 from the free throw line. Warner made 54 percent of their field goals and were 5-of-12 from three.
 
Warren Hall led Warner with 23 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists. Eddie Delegal added 15 points for the Royals.
 
Despite Warner leading for much of the first half, AMU was able to keep within striking distance for the first half as both teams shot over 46 percent from the field and matched three made threes. Ave Maria would go into the break trailing by six, 36-30.
 
The Royals extended their lead to double-digits early in the second half and led by 14, 46-32, at the 16:34 mark in the half. AMU began to chip away at the Warner lead and pulled to within five, 55-50, with 8:39 to play. Warner responded with a 9-0 spurt to extend their lead back to 14. The Royals would go on to win 76-59.
 
Ave Maria returns to Tom Golisano Field House on Saturday for a conference matchup against Thomas. The game will tip at 3 p.m.
