AVE MARIA, Fla. --- The Ave Maria men's basketball team fell to Thomas, 82-68, on Saturday afternoon. Martez Harris led four Gyrenes in double-figures with 20 points and five rebounds.

Brandon Dean finished with 14 points while Nate Krimsky added 11 points, six rebounds, and six assists. Julian Adams recorded 10 points and five assists.

Ave Maria was 24-of-54 from the field and were 16-of-25 from the free throw line. Thomas shot 51 percent from the field and made eight from three. The Nighthawks were 16-of-22 from the free throw line.

The Blue and Green jumped out to an early 8-2 lead after Dean hit a three and Adams converted a layup and-one three minutes into the game. A few minutes later, Harris knocked down a pair of free throws to give AMU a game-high nine-point advantage. Thomas responded with a 16-6 run to take a 25-24 lead with 4:46 to play in the half. A 7-1 spurt just before the half gave Thomas a 39-31 lead going into the break.

Thomas extended its lead to double-figures early in the second half and were able to maintain that lead for the remainder of the game. The Nighthawks were 15-of-20 from the free throw line in the second half to hold off the Gyrenes.

The Lady Gyrenes return to action on Tuesday when they travel to St. Thomas for a conference matchup. The game is set to begin at 6 p.m.
