WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. --- The Ave Maria men's basketball team fell in a neutral site matchup against Marian on Tuesday evening, 74-60. AMU drops to 3-9 on the season and will take on Purdue-Northwest tomorrow in West Palm Beach at 5 p.m.

Tejai Allen led the Gyrenes with 18 points and four rebounds. Malik Mayeux added 16 points for the Blue and Green as the only other AMU player in double figures scoring.

The Gyrenes shot 35.5 percent from the field and were 3-of-17 from three. Marian made seven threes and made 48.4 percent of their shots from the field.

Sam Guymon led Marian with 14 points and seven rebounds. Patrick Bell had nine points and 11 rebounds.

Marian made four of their first six shots in the game to jump out to a 9-2 lead. The Gyrenes' deficit grew to as many as 14 with 14:09 left in the opening half when Marian made a jumper to go up 23-9. AMU began to chip away at the Marian lead and pulled to within three, 28-25, after a 16-5 run by AMU. The teams would exchange baskets down the stretch as Marian took a 36-30 lead into the half.

In the second half, Marian hit a couple early threes to quickly extend the led back to double figures, 42-30, with 17:35 to play. Marian was able to maintain their double-digit lead for the remainder of the game as went on to win 74-60.

The Gyrenes held an 18-2 edge in points off turnovers but Marian outscored the Gyrenes 44-26 in the paint.
