GEORGETOWN, Ky. --- Trailing by one at the half, the Ave Maria women's lacrosse team was outscored 10-4 in the second half as they fell to Lawrence Tech, 16-9, in a neutral site game in Kentucky.

It was a back-and-forth start to the game. Lawrence Tech opened the scoring less than a minute in to the game to take a 1-0 lead. The Lady Gyrenes tied the game a few minutes later on a goal by Mac Tourville.

Lawrence Tech came back with a goal less than a minute later to re-take a one-goal advantage. The Lady Gyrenes tied the game for a second time at the 17:09 mark in the first half when Georgia Miller foung the back of the net to make the score 2-2.

After three straight goals by Lawrence Tech, the Blue and Green came back with three straight goals of their own to tie the game at 5-all. The first two goals came from Katelyn Sherman while Tourville added her second goal to end the run.

A late first half goal gave Lawrence Tech at 6-5 lead at the half.

LTU used a five-goal run to start the second half to take an 11-5 lead before Tourville broke the Lawrence Tech run with her third goal of the game. The teams exchanged three-goal spurts over the next several minutes. The AMU goad were scored by Alexis Smich, Tourville, and Abby Castro.Â

Lawrence Tech ended the game with two goals to make it a 16-9 final score.

Ave Maria was outshot 36-23 and 30-17 on shots on goal. Hannah Camerota made 14 saves in the loss.

Tourville finished the game with four goals on five shots. She also had four draw controls. Katelyn Sherman added two goals on six shots.

AMU returns to action on Tuesday when they take on Georgetown College at 1 p.m.
