AVE MARIA, Fla. --- The Ave Maria softball team scored 20 runs over two games against Edward Waters, sweeping the Tigers, 10-0 and 10-7, in Sunday's twinbill at AMU Softball Field. Ave Maria won in five innings and game one and scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth in game two for the come-from-behind win.

In game one, starting pitcher Sadie Mosher helped herself out in the bottom of the first inning, hitting a RBI single to left field to plate Kingsley Avery to give the Lady Gyrenes a 1-0 lead. Earlier in the inning, Avery stole second base to record her 100th career stolen base. Alyssa Colding made it 3-0 after one with a two RBI double to bring in Moser and Marinna Shadley in the ensuing at-bat.

Colding drove in her third run of the game in the bottom of the third, plating Mosher and on single to left. A couple batters later, Marlie Braddy singled in another run for the Gyrenes before Miranda Dessecker hit a 2-RBI single to make it 7-0 AMU. A few minutes later, Dessecker broke for second and a high throw by the Tigers catcher allowed Braddy to score to increase the Lady Gyrenes' lead to eight. Dessecker would eventually come around to score to make it 9-0.

In the fourth inning, Katelyn Packard stole home after a Deanna Stirtzinger walk to make it the final of 10-0.

Mosher picked up her first win as a Lady Gyrene, pitching four scoreless innings while allowing one hit, three walks and striking out two. Emily Lemin came in to get the final out and allowed one hit.

Mosher also finished 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI and two runs scored. Colding finished game one with two hits, three RBI, and a run scored. Nine different Lady Gyrenes scored a run in game one.

In game two, Ave Maria scored at least a run in each of the first four innings. Stirtzinger singled up the middle in the first to drive in Colding and Mosher. In the second inning, Avery singled up the middle to bring in Dessecker and in the third an RBI double by Braddy scored Stirtzinger to give AMU a 4-0 advantage.

After Edward Waters scored seven unearned runs in the top half of the fourth inning, AMU responded with a run in the bottom half of the inning to cut the deficit to two, 7-5. The AMU run came on a Mosher RBI single to center that scored Avery.

Still trailing 7-5 heading to the sixth, AMU scored five runs in the bottom half of the inning to take a 10-7 lead. Avery and Shadley got things started with back-to-back doubles to score one run. Mosher followed that up with a single to drive in Shadley to tie the game at seven. After a single by Colding and a fly-out, Stirtzinger double to center to put the Lady Gyrenes in front 8-7 before a Braddy single up the middle drove in two-runs to make it the final of 10-7.

Avery tallied three hits in four at-bats in game two with two runs scored and a RBI. In total, five Lady Gyrenes recorded multiple hits in game two. Stirtzinger finished with two hits, two runs scored, and three RBI in the game two win. Braddy also had three RBI for the Lady Gyrenes. Mosher was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI.

In the circle, Gennifer Raulerson was credited with the win after pitching 2.1 scoreless innings before handing it over to Mosher for the save. Starter Lemin, went 3.2 innings and allowed four unearned runs. She allowed two hits, walked three and struck out three.

AMU returns to action on Friday when they host Maryville University in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
