Blue and Green Drop Two Versus No. 1 Auburn-Montgomery

MONTGOMERY, Ala.--- The Lady Gyrenes were swept by No. 1 Auburn-Montgomery in Tuesday's road doubleheader in Montgomery, Ala. The Blue and Green dropped a pitcher's duel in game one, 2-0, before falling 7-1 in the nightcap.

AMU falls to 10-7 overall, while the reigning national champion Warhawks move to 12-1 on the season.

Game 1

AUM designated player Kayla Hale drove a ball over the left field fence in the bottom half of the sixth inning for the two run differential in game one.

Sadie Mosher took the loss for Ave Maria after tossing a complete game four-hitter, allowing two earned runs and striking out four. Marlie Braddy and Miranda Dessecker collected Ave Maria's only hits in the game.

Game 2

The Lady Gyrenes fell behind quickly in game two after starter
Meghan Sullivan gave up a two-run homerun to AUM's Sydney Dishman in the bottom of the first inning.

AMU was able to get one back in the third off a
Marinna Shadley triple down the right field line to plate Deanna Stirtzinger. Runs in each of the third, fourth, and fifth innings by the Warhawks and five Gyrene defensive errors stifled any Ave Maria chance for recovery.

Sullivan took the loss in the circle for Ave Maria. She tossed three innings and allowed two earned runs on two hits and a walk.
Sadie Mosher and Michella Davis collected the remaining pair of hits for AMU in the loss.

The Blue and Green return to action on Friday when they begin pool play at the Gulf Shores Invitational. First pitch against Martin Methodist is slated for 12p.m. on Friday afternoon.
