The two teams combined for six goals in the first half. Gianna Vega got the scoring started with a laser from 30 feet outside the box off a pass from Meghan Precord in the 14th minute. Eight minutes later, Sarah McBride found the back of the net to put AMU in front 2-0.

USCB responded with four goals in 10 minutes to take a 4-2 led into halftime.

In the second half, it was the Sand Sharks who opened the scoring with a goal five minutes into the half. McBride scored her second of the game in the 84th minute to make the score 5-3.

USCB took 22 shots (14 on goal) compared to nine shots (6 on goal) by AMU.

Francesca Singleton took the loss in net. She allowed five goals (one on a penalty) while making nine saves.

Ave Maria returns to action on Wednesday when they travel to Johnson & Wales for a 12 p.m. kickoff.
