LAKE WALES, Fla. --- The Ave Maria women's basketball team was unable to hold off a second half rally by Warner, eventually falling by four, 62-58. The Lady Gyrenes move to 11-12 on the season and to 7-8 in Sun Conference play.

Freshman Sarah Miller tallied her eighth double-double of the season with 17 points and 11 rebounds. She also had three blocks. Lauren Gillingham finished with 21 points and six assists.

Ave Maria shot 38 percent for the game and made 3-of-9 from three. Warner converted 46 percent of their field goal attempts and made 8-of-16 from deep.

Similar to their game in Ave Maria last weekend, AMU jumped out to an early lead and led 19-12 after a quarter of play. The Lady Gyrenes extended that lead to double-figures in the second quarter and would lead by nine, 32-23, at the half.

Momentum shifted in the third quarter with the Royals outscoring AMU 18-10 to pull within one. Warner took their first lead since the early minutes of the game 27 seconds into the fourth. AMU would retake the lead and extend it to seven midway through the final quarter. With the Lady Gyrenes leading 50-43, Warner went on a 13-0 run to take a six point edge. Warner held on to win by four, 62-58.

Ave Maria concludes the regular season next Saturday at 2 p.m. against Keiser at the Tom Golisano FH.

AMU currently sits in fifth place in conference with the top six making the conference tournament. AMU has played one mare game than all other schools in conference and could clinch a spot in the conference tournament based on midweek results.
