Ave Maria, FL – Ave Maria University softball officially got their 2017 campaign underway this afternoon as they took on Edward Waters College in a home double header. The Lady Gyrenes were victorious in both ends of the action winning by scores of 8-0 and 8-6. The two wins are the first for Coach Liz Baux at the helm of the program.
Game 1 Recap
Sadie Mosher shined in game one for the Blue and Green, hurling a five inning, no-hit complete game. Mosher struck out 5 and walked 3 en route to the win.
Designated hitter Michella Davis provided some power early for AMU, blasting a grand slam home run in the bottom of the first inning. Davis added another RBI in the third, bringing her total to five in the first game alone. Marinna Shadley, Alyssa Colding and Danielle Garcia added an RBI a piece to set the score at 8-0.

In the second game of the afternoon, the Lady Gyrene offense continued clicking putting their second 8 spot of the afternoon.
Alyssa Codling, McKayla Jeter, and Deanna Stritzinger each knocked in 2 runs while Sadie Mosher and Michellas Davis continued their hot afternoons with an RBI each.
Gennifer Raulerson earned the win, pitching four innings and allowing just one run.
The Lady Gyrenes will be back in action on February 8
th as they head across Alligator Alley for a midweek exhibition double header against Broward College.
