AVE MARIA, Fla. --- The Ave Maria men's basketball team fell to Webber International on Thursday night, 94-50. The Gyrenes return to action on Saturday when they travel to Lake Wales to take on Warner.
 
The Gyrenes struggled to find their rhythm for most of the night, shooting 27.3 percent from the field and 18.8 percent from three. Webber on the other hand, shot 50.7 percent on the night and made 13-of-29 from behind the arc.
 
The Warriors took control of the game early, jumping out to an 11-0 lead forcing AMU in to a timeout three minutes into the contest. Webber continued to keep the pressure on offensively and defensively in the first half and went into the halftime break up 44-22.
 
AMU cut the deficit to 15 early in the second and appeared to be gaining some momentum before Webber's Nikita Orap caught fire from three. Orap made five threes in the second half and eight for the game en route to a game-high 28 points. Webber went on to outscore AMU 50-28 in the second.
 
Gianpaolo Riccio led the Gyrenes with 18 points and five rebounds in 25 minutes. Greenan Sullivan added 11 points.
