Box Score TOCCOA FALLS, Ga. --- The Ave Maria men's basketball team defeated Toccoa Falls College 72-62 on Saturday afternoon in AMU's season opener. AMU is now 2-2 in season openers under head coach John Lamanna.
 
Leo Behrend led the Gyrenes with 24 points and 16 rebounds. Jovan Grujicic had 13 points for the Gyrenes while Romello Bates added 11 points.
 
The Gyrenes had a six point lead at the half, 36-30, and maintain their advantage in the second half, outscoring Toccao Falls 36-32.
 
AMU shot 36.4 percent for the game compared to nearly 42 percent by Toccoa Falls. The Gyrenes held a 43-30 edge in rebounding, including a 17-5 advantage on offensive rebounds.
