AVE MARIA, Fla. --- The Ave Maria volleyball team fell to the visiting Southeastern Fire 3-1 on Wednesday night. The Gyrenes took a set off the Fire who are currently second in the conference. AMU moves to 6-15 on the season while Southeastern sits at 21-3.

The Blue and Green gave Southeastern all they could handle in the second and third sets, taking the third set by a score of 25-22. Negative hit percentages by the Gyrenes in the first and fourth sets gave the Fire 25-16 and 25-15 wins.

AMU hit .081 on the night while Southeastern hit at a .120 clip. The Fire held a 5-0 advantage in service aces and a 9-6 edge in blocks.

Jenna Barnack led the Gyrenes with 10 kills, two solo blocks, and two block assists. Lauren Ruby and Alejandra Suarez each had nine kills. Cassie Davis led AMU in assists with 23. Ruby added 14 assists and tallied a team-best 20 digs.

Ave Maria concludes the season on Saturday when they host Keiser at 2 p.m.
