Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 AVE MARA, Fla. --- The Ave Maria tennis teams opened their season on Saturday when they hosted conference opponent Coastal Georgia at the AMU Tennis Facility. The men's team fell to Coastal Georgia 7-2 while the women's team fell to the Mariners 9-0.
 
With doubles playing first, the duo of Brian Schmidt and Nicholas Hoftmeister defeated the Coastal Georgia team of Eric Gravelle and K. Ramokgopa, 8-4, for AMU's first point. In singles play, Cesar Menacho tallied the other point for AMU on the afternoon after a 6-4, 6-2 win at six-singles over the Mariners' Gravelle.
 
The Lady Gyrenes both doubles matches they played in. In singles play, the Mariners took all five matches played. Amanda Grebosky nearly got a point at one-singles. After she took the first set 6-4, she dropped the second 6-0 and then fell 10-8 in the tiebreaker set.
 
Tennis returns to action on Saturday, February 10, when they travel to Lake Wales, Fla., to take on Warner in a TSC contest.
