CLERMONT, Fla. --- The Ave Maria softball team improved to 10-3 on the season with wins over Judson and Trinity International on Friday afternoon. AMU defeated Judson 3-2 in their opener and concluded the day with a 3-0 win over Trinity International.

Against Judson, Deanna Stirtzinger got the scoring started for AMU with a home run to left field in the top of the first. Later in the inning, Abigail Love singled through the right side the plate Michella Davis to make it 2-0.

Judson tied the game with two runs in the second.

Brianna Geiger and Lauren Herlihy went pitch-for-pitch in the circle over the next few innings until AMU was able to break through in the fifth with a RBI single by Emma Thompson to bring in Kalie Romig. The one run was enough for Geiger as she was able to get out of a bases-loaded jam in the bottom of the seventh to precure her fifth win of the year.

Geiger allowed no earned runs on six hits and four walks over seven innings. She struck out two.

In their second game of the afternoon, AMU again got on the board first, scoring on a sac fly by Thompson that allowed Romig to score from third. Thompson added another RBI in the third when she reached on a fielding error by the second baseman to again bring in Romig. In the fourth inning, Brooke Pierron scored on an error by the catcher to make it 3-0 AMU.

Pierron picked up the win in the circle, pitching a complete game one-hitter. She struck out two in the gem. Â

After a couple days off, Ave Maria returns to the field on Tuesday when they take on a Trinity Baptist in Jacksonville. The doubleheader with begin at 1 p.m.
