AVE MARIA, Fla.- The Ave Maria University women's soccer team fell to the Thomas University Night Hawks on Saturday evening, falling 6-0 at Gyrene Field in Ave Maria.

Thomas scored four goals in the first half, beginning in the 14th minute. Anna Gray scored on an assist from Katy Hunt, and Anna Felixson followed just over four minutes later to give the Night Hawks a 2-0 lead in the 18th minute. Thomas added two more goals in a span of just over eight minutes later in the half, as a goal in the 31st minute from Jahzyiah Samuels-Williams and a score in the 39th minute from Hunt provided the visitors with their 4-0 halftime lead.

Two goals in the first 20 minutes of the second half concluded the scoring for Thomas. Samuels-Williams scored her second goal of the day in the 59th minute, and Victoria Trujic finished the action with a goal in the 64th minute. Thomas outshot Ave Maria 26-5 on the day, with 14 of the Night Hawks' shots going on goal.

The Gyrenes' best scoring opportunity came early in the first half, when a free kick cross from Meghan Precord found Hannah Lawrence, who headed the ball into the back of the net. However, offsides was called to negate the goal. Emily Dalton was Ave's most active attacker, recording two shots and one shot on goal.

Ave Maria will again play at home on Wednesday night against the Warriors of Webber International University. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at Gyrene Field, and will mark the first women's soccer match to be played under the newly installed lights.
