THOMASVILLE, Ga.- The Ave Maria University women's soccer team suffered a conference loss on Saturday afternoon, as the Thomas University Night Hawks claimed a 10-0 victory at the TU Soccer Complex. The host Night Hawks scored four goals in the first half, and added six more tallies in the final 45 minutes.
Thomas scored three times in the opening ten minutes of the match, as Emily Linscer scored on an assist from Jahzyiah Samuels-Williams in the fourth minute, and Barbara Woll added a goal in the ninth minute before Taylor Hults scored in the tenth minute on an assist from Lexie McDaniel. Linscer scored her second goal of the match, with the assist going to Dana Blough, in the 33rd minute to give Thomas a 4-0 lead.
Analeice Wilkes scored four times in the second half, while Linscer completed a hat trick with her goal in the 72nd minute. Taylor Hults also added her second goal of the match in the 81st minute, which proved the be the final goal of the day. Assists were provided by Woll, Linscer, and Jana Pastorek.
The Night Hawks outshot the Gyrenes, 40-9, and held a 17-5 advantage in shots on goal. Hults and Linscer combined for 18 of TU's 40 shots, as well as eight of the 17 attempts on the net. Laura Spence and Meghan Precord each attempted two shots for AMU, with shots on goal coming from Precord, Hannah Lawrence, Ally Williams, Haley Ewing, and Clare Cuesta.
Ave Maria's conference schedule continues on Wednesday afternoon, as the Gyrenes take on Webber International University in Babson Park. AMU won last season's meeting with the Warriors, 4-2, at Gyrene Field. Kickoff at Warrior Field on the WIU campus is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
