Men's Soccer Loses to Keiser

AVE MARIA, Fla.- The Ave Maria University men's soccer team was defeated by Keiser University on Wednesday evening by a final score of 12-0. Keiser scored eight goals in the first half and four more in the second to earn the victory.

Keiser's eight first half goals were led by Adrian Camacho Castro, who scored four times in the opening 45 minutes. Ciro Damine scored twice in the first half, while the other two goals were scored by Cristobal Molina and Giorgio Resnati. Evan Finnegan added two assists in the first half, with one assist each coming from Damine and Resnati.

In the second half, the Seahawks added goals in the 49th, 54th, 63rd, and 68th minutes. All four goals in the final 45 minutes were scored by Mathues Machado. The last of the four goals was assisted by Fernando Abreu and Sebastian Espino. 

The Gyrenes attempted eight shots in the losing effort, with five attempts challenging the goalkeeper. John Gokey was the most active attacker with three shots and two shots on goal, while Hernando Valencia-Parra added a pair of shots on goal. Kensley Jean Baptiste had the last of AMU's shots on goal. John Turner had 12 saves for the Gyrenes under near constant pressure.

Wednesday's match was the final home match of the season for the Gyrenes, who end the 2019 season on Saturday against the Bees of SCAD-Savannah. Kickoff in Savannah is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
