AVE MARIA, Fla. — The Ave Maria men's soccer team lost 8-0 to the Southeastern Fire Saturday night at Gyrene Field. It was the second meeting between the schools this season, with the Fire claiming the win in both.

Southeastern started off strong getting two goals in the first half while holding the Gyrenes to zero shots on goal.

In the second half, Ave Maria made a change at goalie bringing in Ian Wall for Rhys Lawlor. Unfortunately, SEU put six past the backup goalie in the final 45 minutes.

Meanwhile, Ave Maria managed two shots on goal, both of which were saved by the Southeastern goalie.

With the loss, the Gyrenes fall to 1-10-1 and 1-7 in conference play. Ave Maria is on the road for the next two games, taking on the Florida Memorial Lions Wednesday, October 11, and the SCAD Bees Saturday, October 14. The Gyrenes' next home game won't be until October 18 when the host the Warner Royals, a rematch of AMU's Sun Conference victory late last month.
