AVE MARIA, Fla.- The Ave Maria University women's soccer program is pleased to welcome its 2023 incoming class. The class brought in by head coach Tyler Rosser comes into Ave Maria on the heels of a successful season in 2022.
The incoming class of Gyrenes is listed as follows, in alphabetical order:
Anna Bohli is from Fairfax, Virginia. She played club soccer for FC Virginia TSJ and attended Saint John Paul the Great Catholic High School. She plays outside back. She has won academic awards in Dual Enrollment English, World History, and Peer Mentoring and has received Principals Honor Roll three years in a row. She has also won 1st team all-conference two years in a row. She is most excited about attending Ave Maria because of the Catholic community. Â
Cydnee Butler is from Simi Valley, California. She played club soccer for Eagles Soccer Club and attended Royal High School. She plays Forward (striker, left and right-wing) and Offensive Mid. She is a member of NSHSS (National Society of High School Scholars). She won an MVP award for volleyball in her freshman year. She is a member of the Royal HS Swim Team. About attending Ave Maria, Cydnee says, "I know I will get a great education, become closer to God, learn more about my Catholic faith, and at the same time be able to play soccer for Ave Maria University Women's Soccer."
Cate Cox is from Omaha, Nebraska. She played club soccer for Gretna Elite and attended Elkhorn High School. She plays center midfield. She has won 2x academic all-state, 3x academic all-conference, and is a National Honors Society member. She has also won 2x all-conference, all-conference honorable mention, the 100% hustle award, the team leader award, the Nebraska Player of the Week, and was a high school team captain. Â She is most excited about attending Ave Maria because of the opportunity to follow the Lord and play the game she loves, surrounded by people who have the same ultimate goal: Heaven.
Catherine Dalton is from Venice, Florida. She played club soccer for Venice Falcons and Fishhawk FC and was home-schooled. She plays Center Attacking Mid. She has won Offensive Player of the Year for her high school team twice, was nominated to play in the State All-Star game in Florida, and was on the All-Area High School team. She is most excited about attending Ave Maria because she's excited to thrive on this team and in this community growing in her faith and further her education.Â
Mia Bella DeVito is from Mayfield, Ohio. She played club soccer for Croatia Cleveland Juniors and attended Mayfield High School. She plays goalkeeper. She has won Honors awards and the AVIS award. She has also won Most Valuable Defender for her high school and, All Greater Cleveland Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association Honorable Mention. She is most excited about attending Ave Maria to explore and grow in her faith while continuing to focus on her desired studies and playing soccer at a competitive level.
Bianca Fontanin is from Viera, Florida. She played club soccer for Space Coast United and attended Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy. Bianca plays forward and midfield. She is co-vice president of her school's Honor Council, has won highest honors for academics, and has won an AP Scholar Award. Bianca's soccer team has been three-time Florida Cup champions, won the ECNL-R State of Florida league twice, won the ECNL Regional Southeast Championship, and the US Club Soccer National Cup. She is most excited about attending Ave Maria because it reflects her Christian values, is a walkable campus, and has excellent faculty and staff.
Betsy Laville is from Olathe, Kansas. She played club soccer for KC Fusion and attended St. James Academy. She plays center midfield. She has won summa cum laude for her high school GPA and the National High School Orchestra award on violin. She was a captain of her high school team, received an East Kansas League Honorable Mention, and was a 2021 NPL National Tournament Finalist. She is most excited about attending Ave Maria because of the vibrant Catholic community and the dedication of the coaches and professors to form young adults for Jesus.
Cadey Ragsdale is from New Port Richey, Florida. She played club soccer for Florida Premier and attended Bishop Mclaughlin Catholic High School. She plays attacking center midfield. She has won Principal's Honor Roll for Four years, is a member of the National Honor Society, a member of the National Science Honor Society, a member of the National English Honor Society, a member of the Quill and Scroll Honor Society, a member of the Rho Kappa Honor Society, and a member of the Beta Honor Society . She has also won Sunshine State Athletic Conference First Team All-Conference. She is most excited about attending Ave Maria because of how amazing the girls are on the soccer team, the great atmosphere, and being able to become closer to God with my future teammates.Â

Carys Ragsdale is from New Port Richey, Florida. She played club soccer for Florida Premier FC and attended Bishop McLaughlin Catholic High School. She plays Forward. She has won Principal's Honor Roll for all four years, the Anne Frank Humanitarian Award, is a member of the National Honor Society, is a member of the National Science Honor Society, is a member of the National English Honor Society, is a member of the Quill and Scroll Honor Society, is a member of the Rho Kappa Honor Society, is a member of Mu Alpha Theta, and is a member of the Beta Honor Society. She has also won team captain for Junior and Senior year of High School. She is most excited about attending Ave Maria because of the beautiful atmosphere of the campus along with the soccer program, coaches, and players.
Emma Schweitzer is from Tampa, Florida. She played club soccer for Florida Premier FC and attended Tampa Catholic High School. She plays Goalkeeper. She is a member of the National English Honor Society, the Theology Honor Society, and the High Honor Roll at Tampa Catholic High School. She has also won the team Leadership Award her senior year at Tampa Catholic, was a four-year starter on Varsity Soccer, played ECNL and WPSL. She is most excited about attending Ave Maria because of the faith life on campus and the welcoming love that she wants to surround herself with.
Arianna Sebion Calvesio is from Apple Valley, Minnesota. She played club soccer for Minnesota Thunder Academy and attended Unity Catholic High School. She plays outside defense. She has won the Academic Excellence Award from MSCA, has earned high honor roll all four years, and received her school's Academic Award in the spring of 2022. She was also a Ms. Soccer Minnesota Class A Finalist, earned All- Conference Player of the Year, was named the team MVP, and earned 1st Team All State. She is most excited about attending Ave Maria because of the authentic Catholic community and being able to play on the soccer team while furthering her education founded in truth.Â
Maria Smith is from Manassas, Virginia. She played club soccer for Northern Virginia Soccer Club and attended Holy Family Academy. She plays midfield. She has won two magna cum laudes, a maxima cum laude, a summa cum laude on the National Latin Exam, and graduated with honors. She has also won offensive MVP for her Varsity team, the "Golden Ball" award, and she played on the Olympic Development North Division team. She is most excited about attending Ave Maria because she wants to continue playing competitive soccer while surrounded by intelligent people who all share the common goal of getting to Heaven.Â
Kira Stevens is from Kingwood, Texas. She played club soccer for Houston Dash GA 2 North and attended Kingwood High School. She plays outside back. She has been honored as a College Board National Hispanic Scholar, a College Board AP Scholar with Distinction, has been a two-year member of National Honor Society, and a two-year member of the National Spanish Honor Society. She has also won Second Team All-Region, Second Team All-District two times, Second Team All-District, Academic All-State, and Academic All-District two times. She was a senior captain. She is most excited about attending Ave Maria because she instantly fell in love with the friendly atmosphere and how everyone she met during her visits prioritizes their faith. She is excited to be under the mentorship of her coaches and professors in order to continue growing her relationship with God.
Bryn Tegenkamp is from Continental, Ohio. She played club soccer for Putnam County Futbol Club and attended Continental Local High School. She plays midfield/forward. She has achieved All A Honor Roll all four years of high school. She has also won 2nd team Putnam County League 2020, 1st team Putnam County League 2021, Second Team All-District Division III 2021, 1st team Putnam County League 2022, 1st team All-District Division III 2022, and 2nd team All-State Ohio Division III. She is most excited about attending Ave Maria because she wants to grow in her relationship with the Lord while furthering her academic and athletic career.
Stella Tselios is from Mill Creek, Washington. She played club soccer for Sound FC and attended Archbishop Murphy High School. She plays forward. Â She won a state championship with her school team and went to regionals with her club team in 2022. She is most excited about attending Ave Maria because I get to play soccer and be in the sun all day!Â
Alexis Westgate is from Ocala, Florida. She played club soccer for Gainesville Soccer Alliance and attended Trinity Catholic High School. She plays defense and midfield. She is a member of the National Honor Society, a Peer Minister, a LOMY Graduate, the Vice President of FFA, and is a Student Ambassador. Â She was also a member of the All County Soccer Team, was a four-year Varsity Soccer Captain, Trinity Catholic Defensive Player of the Year, and made the Florida ODP player pool. She is most excited about attending Ave Maria because she wants to make life long friends while growing in her relationship with God.Â
