The aim of Intramural Sports at AMU is to offer students, faculty, and staff the chance to engage in organized, competitive recreational sports, irrespective of their athletic prowess. It fosters sportsmanship and community across a range of team-based activities.
FALL INTRAMURAL SPORTS
Sand Volleyball
Remove your footwear and experience the sensation of sand beneath your toes at the Suppa Malec Beach Courts. COED teams of six vie for supremacy in a series of matches, with the victor determined by the best two out of three games. Matches proceed to 21 points using rally scoring, and the option to wear shoes is entirely up to you. All necessary equipment is supplied.
Kickball
Join us at the AMU Softball Field, located at the northernmost corner of the campus, for this iconic event illuminated by stadium lights. This COED team activity comprises nine players and shares many rules with baseball. However, instead of swinging bats, players use their legs. All necessary equipment will be provided.
Soccer
COED Teams engage in 7 vs 7 matches on Gyrene Field, with no offside violations. All other rules adhere to traditional recreational soccer, allowing for unlimited substitutions at any stoppage. The game is overseen by two referees who follow AMU Intramural guidelines. All necessary equipment is supplied.
SPRING INTRAMURAL SPORTS
Flag Football
Join us for 7 vs 7 action on Gyrene Field, where games consist of two 18-minute halves. Navigate your way to the end zone either by passing or running, aiming to score 6 points while avoiding opponents eager to snatch your flag. This non-contact sport welcomes players of all abilities and sizes to experience collegiate-level football. Teams compete on a 40-yard x 100-yard field, divided into four 20-yard "zones" representing first downs. Offensively, each team boasts five eligible receivers and a quarterback stationed in shotgun mode. Both men's and women's leagues are available, and all necessary equipment is provided.
Pickleball
Let's Play Pickleball! Become a part of the country's fastest growing sport and a Gyrene favorite. Pickleball is played in a tournament style over several weeks. Take to the courts in 2 vs 2 men's, women's or mixed pairs on courts set up at Judi's Gym.
Basketball
Test your skills against friends or team up with them for a 5 vs 5 matchup on the Golisano hardwood courts. Participating teams engage in regulation basketball, featuring two halves of 15 minutes each packed with thrilling, high-speed action, officiated by referees and with dedicated scorekeepers. Both men's and women's leagues are available for this sport. Don't pass up the chance to join one of AMU's most beloved Intramural Sports. All necessary equipment will be provided.
