AVE MARIA, Fla.- Ave Maria University is pleased to announce the 2024 Class of the Ave Maria University Athletics Hall of Fame. The athletic department will honor the inductees at a banquet and induction ceremony on Friday night, November 1, during the University's homecoming festivities.

This is the fourth class of inductees, with nine athletes currently inducted into the Hall of Fame, listed here. 

The class was selected by the University's Hall of Fame committee, which consists of members of the University administration, members of the athletic department's executive team, and members of the University's sports information department. One ballot—with three votes—was also cast by Ave Maria fans, as the total of the more than 1,000 unique ballots cast were factored into the decision.

The John Paul II Distinguished Alumni Award, announced next week, recognizes an AMU athletic alum who has achieved notable distinction off the field of competition following graduation.

Michigan native Gabe Hogan remains the best cross country runner ever to wear an Ave Maria uniform, posting nine of the fastest 15 8k times in school history, including the current school record of 26:09.00. In his four seasons of competition from 2016-2019, Hogan was a four-time first-team All-Sun Conference selection, and advanced to the NAIA National Championships in each of his four years on campus. He was named Sun Conference Runner of the Week seven times - another school record - earning the honor at least once in each of his four seasons.

Savohn Hunt was a force on the defensive line for the Ave Maria football program during his playing career, ranging from 2016-2019. The Maryland native was a four-year starter for the Gyrenes and a two-time All-Sun Division selection, including earning first-team honors following his senior season of 2019. Hunt also earned Honorable Mention NAIA All-American honors in 2019, becoming just the third All-American in program history, and the second on the defensive side of the ball. Hunt finished his playing career with 169 total tackles, including 24 tackles for loss and seven sacks.

Sarah Miller was a dominant post presence for the Ave Maria women's basketball team during her career, three times earning All-Sun Conference honors. Miller, a native of Ohio, was an eight-time Sun Conference Player of the Week and a three-time first-team All-Sun Conference selection. She was also a three-time Academic All-SUN honoree and the league's 2019 Champion of Character. Miller was named NAIA All-American in 2020, and still holds program records for points per game (14.5), field goals made (658), field goal percentage (.559), rebounds (1361), and double-doubles (65).

Katelyn Sherman joined the Ave Maria lacrosse program in the infancy of the sport at AMU, and remains arguably its greatest scorer. Sherman still holds the school records for goals (142) and points (168), and helped Ave Maria to their lone national tournament appearance in school history. Sherman earned NAIA Second Team All-American honors following her sophomore season of 2017, and was a four-time All-Conference selection, earning three first-team nods. The Melbourne, Florida native also excelled in the classroom, earning Academic All-Mid South honors in 2019.

The four honorees, along with the John Paul II Distinguished Alumni Award, will be recognized as Ave Maria's Hall of Fame class of 2024 as part of Homecoming Weekend festivities on campus. The John Paul II award winner will be announced August 19. The induction ceremony is scheduled for Friday, November 1 on the Ave Maria campus.
