SAVANNAH, Ga. — The Ave Maria Men's Tennis team fell to the No. 11 SCAD Bees Saturday afternoon 4-0. The Gyrenes struggled against one of the top teams in the country, only winning one set throughout the whole match.

SCAD opened the match by taking the doubles point, quickly winning the second and third pairings 6-1 and 6-2, respectively.

In the singles round, it was another quick sweep for the Bees, who won the first, second and sixth pairings to clinch the match.

Gianmarco Punzo won the lone set for the Gyrenes in the match, taking the first set in the fifth pairing 6-2. Outside of that lone win, no Gyrene won more than three games in a set in the singles round.

With the loss, Ave Maria falls to 5-5 overall and 1-2 in conference play. The Gyrenes come home from the peach state empty handed with two losses to Coastal Georgia and SCAD.

The Gyrenes are back home Friday and Saturday, March 28-29, for their final two home matches of the season. Friday starts off with No. 4 Southeastern and Saturday features RV Warner. Last season, the Gyrenes fell to Southeastern 4-0 and beat Warner 4-1.

Friday's match against the Fire will start at 1 p.m.
