AVE MARIA, Fla. — Ave Maria University is proud to announce that Women's Lacrosse head coach Katelyn Sherman has been named the Director of Gameday Operations. She will now oversee gameday operations for all Gyrene athletic events, including the Gyrene Gameday social media page, enhancing the experience for athletes, students, fans, and the AMU community in addition to her coaching duties.
Sherman, a 2019 alumna of the university and one of the 13 players inducted into the AMU Hall of Fame, has led the women's lacrosse team since 2022. She has the highest winning percentage among all Ave Maria women's lacrosse head coaches and has transformed the program. As a player, Sherman held the school record for both goals and points from 2018-2025. She was passed in both categories this past season by her own players.
Vice President of Athletics, John Weisbrod, highlighted her impact across the department, "I have found Katy to be a tremendous worker and operator in my brief time at AMU. Her work ethic, attention to detail, and uniformity to our mission make her the ideal person to head this important aspect of athletic operations."
In addition to her success as a coach and player, Sherman is also well known for her ability to capture the spirit of Ave Maria Athletics through photography. She will continue using her talents behind the lens to highlight the memorable moments of Gyrene sports.
Sherman expressed her eagerness about the new role, saying, "I am really excited to be involved in the operations side of Ave Maria athletics. I believe our athletic department has seen much growth and I am excited to continue to make Gyrene gamedays enjoyable for everyone who is a part of this amazing community. Go Gyrenes!"
