HIALEAH, Fla. — The Ave Maria Men's Tennis team lost their final conference match of the season Wednesday, falling to the Florida National Conquistadors 4-0.
The Conquistadors won the doubles point to start the match, winning the second and third pairings 6-0 and 6-1, respectively.
In the singles round, Florida National won the first, third and fifth positions to clinch the match 4-0.
In the fourth position, Andreu Soliva won the opening set 6-4 and was leading 4-2 in the second frame when the match was called. Pedro Garcia also won his opening set 7-5 in the second position.
With the loss, Ave Maria falls to 1-13 overall and finishes conference play 0-7.
The Gyrenes have one more match as they take a trip up to Winter Park to take on the Rollins Tars. The Tars were ranked No. 8 in the latest NCAA Division II polls. The match is set for Friday, April 17.
