WINTER PARK, Fla. — The Ave Maria Men's Tennis team completed their 2026 campaign with a cross-association matchup against the NCAA Division II Rollins Tars Friday afternoon. The Tars, ranked eighth in the DII rankings, beat the Gyrenes 4-0.
In the doubles round, Rollins won all three positions to secure the opening point of the match. Joao Felipe Almedia and Pedro Garcia were the only AMU pair to win a game as they fell 6-1.
In the singles round, the Tars won the second, fifth and sixth positions to clinch the match. No Gyrene won a set, but Almedia and Gianmarco Punzo tied for the most games won with six across two sets. Both players finished their singles rounds unfinished.
With the loss, Ave Maria finishes the 2026 season with a 1-14 record.
