AVE MARIA, Fla.—The offense of the defending Sun Conference champs proved to be too much for Ave Maria, as Embry-Riddle found the back of the net early en route to 6-0 Gyrene defeat. Ave Maria will next play on Thursday, October 16th, when they host TSC opponent Florida Memorial.
The Embry-Riddle offense jumped on the Ave Maria defense, tallying four quick goals to put the Gyrenes in an early hole.
The defense of the Blue and Green began to find its stride in the second half, holding the explosive Eagles offense to two goals. Senior goalkeeper
JC Intriago (Guayaquil, Ecuador) led the AMU defensive effort, turning away six shots.
Veit Couturier led the ERAU offense with four goals on six shots.
With the loss the Gyrenes drop their record to 1-7 and 0-5 in the Sun Conference.
AMU will return to action this coming Thursday, when they take on Florida Memorial University. The match with the Lions is set for 6:30 p.m. at the North Park Athletic Complex on the campus of Ave Maria University.
