Gyrenes And Falcons Set To Square Off

Week Two Game Notes

AVE MARIA, Fla. – 
The Ave Maria Lady Gyrenes and the Florida College Falcons play for the first time since 2011, when they meet this Saturday in Temple Terrace, Fla. In their 2011 matchup, the Lady Gyrenes and the Falcons played to a one all tie. This will be the third consecutive road contest for AMU before they begin a four game home stand next week.

The Lady Gyrenes will look to stay hot, coming off two consecutive victories last week. The Blue and Green jumped out to a two goal lead over Georgia Southwestern State and never looked back as they cruised to a 4-2 victory. AMU followed up its game one victory with a come-from-behind 2-1 win over the Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels. Sophomore midfielder Anne Bateman sparked the offense, totaling two goals and an assist in the two victories. Freshman Courtney Smith, Gianna Vega, Carlie Frullo and Anna Organvidez each tallied their first goal as Gyrenes in last week's contests.

The Falcons enter the matchup with the Lady Gyrenes coming off a 4-3 loss to Warner University. Offensively, Florida College is led by senior Jessica Webb who has registered four goals in the Falcons first two games. In their two contests this season, the Falcons have knocked in 13 goals including 10 in their season opener versus Johnson University (Fla.).
