Ave Maria, FL – AMU women's soccer will be back on the pitch this weekend as they travel to Temple Terrace, Florida for a matchup with Florida College. Their Saturday meeting will be the second time that the Gyrenes and Falcons have faced off in the last two weeks. The first meeting at North Park ended with Ave Maria leading 2-0 in the 62
nd minute before weather caused a stoppage of play.
The Lady Gyrenes have been off to a solid start on the young season, picking up a 2-0 win on the road against Trinity Baptist to go along with their 2-0 lead in the suspended game with Florida College.
Alexia Mazzacone (Ontario, Canada) has been the offensive leader for the blue and green, netting a goal in each of the first two games. Katie Trudeau and Anna Koerner (South Grafton, Mass.) each have added a goal for AMU. Francesca Singleton (Manchester, United Kingdom) has gotten the nod in goal in both of her team's matches and has not allowed a point, notching three saves.
Florida College has been busy through the first few weeks of the season, playing 6 games thus far. The Falcons sit at a 2-3 record not including the suspended game with the Gyrenes. After starting the season with a 2-0 mark, Florida College has suffered back to back losses against familiar opponents Southeastern and most recently Trinity Baptist.
Match time is set for 4 p.m. on Saturday at Florida College.
