GULF SHORES, Ala.--- The Ave Maria Lady Gyrenes fell to the Cardinals of Concordia University-Michigan, 5-3, during Bronze Championship play at the Gulf Coast Invitational.

The Blue and Green weren't able to come through with a big hit until the bottom of the sixth inning when Sadie Mosher doubled to plate Kingsley Avery. Michella Davis followed it up by blasting the first home run of her collegiate career to pull the Lady Gyrenes within one, 4-3. 

A solo shot by Concordia's Elizabeth Barkel in the top of the seventh added an insurance run for the Cardinals and AMU was unable to rally.

Seven different Ave Maria players recorded a hit in the game. Sadie Mosher took the loss in the circle after allowing five earned runs on nine hits and a pair of walks, while striking out nine.

The Ave Maria softball team returns to action on Tuesday when they host Peru State at the AMU Softball Field. The twinbill is slated to begin at 1p.m.
