Box Score JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --- The Ave Maria women's soccer team struck first but two unanswered goals by Dalton State sent the Lady Gyrenes to a 2-1 season opening loss. Alexia Mazzoccone netted the lone goal for the Blue and Green.
 
Scoreless at the half, Mazzoccone found the back of the net early in the second half to put AMU in front 1-0. About 10 minutes later, Dalton State scored two quick goals to take a 2-1 advantage.
 
Ave Maria returns to action tomorrow afternoon when they take on Southeastern at 5 p.m. in Jacksonville.
