THOMASVILLE, Ga. --- The Ave Maria softball team split Friday's doubleheader at Thomas. The two teams return to the field tomorrow for the final game of the three-game conference series.

The Lady Gyrenes took the early lead in game one before eventually falling 3-2. Marissa Conde drove in two runs for AMU in the second inning to put the Blue and Green up 2-0. Thomas got a run back in the fourth before adding a run in the sixth and seventh innings to take a 3-2 advantage.

Alyssa Colding went 3-for-3 for AMU in game one with a run scored. Conde was 2-for-3 with two RBI. Sadie Mosher pitched the entire game for the Lady Gyrenes and allowed three runs on six hits, two walks, and five strikeouts.

Lauren West earned the win for Thomas, pitching all seven innings and allowing two runs on eight hits She walked one and struck out two.

It didn't take long for AMU to get on the board in game two with Colding laying down a sac bunt to bring in Marinna Shadley in the top of the first. In the third, Mosher homered to center to make it 2-0. After Thomas cut the lead in half with a run in the fourth, Mosher hit her second home run of the game in the fifth. The two-run shot made it 4-1 AMU.

But Thomas wouldn't go away and scored four in the fifth to take t a 5-4 lead on the Lady Gyrenes. In the sixth, Deanna Stirtzinger doubled down the left field line which brought in Pookie Del Pino to tie the game. Later in the inning, Shadley singled up the middle to bring in Stirtzinger to give AMU the lead.

Mosher was 2-for-3 in game two with two home runs and three RBI. Shadley was 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored. Six others recorded a hit for AMU in game two.

Brittney Pressler got the win in game two. She pitched five innings and allowed five runs on four hits and four walks. She struck out three. Meghan Sullivan came in right after AMU retook the lead and pitched the final two innings to earn the save. She allowed one hit and struck out two.
