Vujakovic Named All-Sun Conference Goalie

AVE MARIA, Fla. — The Sun Conference announced their All-Conference teams Wednesday morning and for the first time in six years, a Gyrene was honored. Freshman Andrija Vujakovic was named Second Team All-Sun Conference goalkeeper, as picked by the league's head coaches. Not only is Vujakovic the first Gyrene since 2018 to be honored, he is the first keeper in Ave Maria history to be selected.

Vujakovic put together one of the best seasons as a goalkeeper in Ave Maria Men's Soccer history this season. He started all 16 games this season and played in all but one half. He stopped 86 shots while only allowing 26 goals, for a save percentage of .768. His goals against average of 1.68 is a new school record and the first sub-two GAA for a Gyrene.

Vujakovic turned in four shutouts this year, the most in a single season by a Gyrene. That also ties him for the most in a career at Ave Maria as a freshman. Across his four shutouts, he made 17 saves.

Vujakovic was named the Sun Conference Defensive Player of the Week twice this season, first on August 26 after starting the season off with back-to-back shutouts, and again on October 7 when he made nine saves against Warner.

Vujakovic is the fourth Gyrene to be honored as an All-Sun Conference selection. Mario Black and Andres Guerra were the first to be honored in 2011. Kaveon Dux was the most recent Gyrenes recognized in 2018.

No. 14 Keiser, the 2024 Regular Season Champion and the #1 overall seed in the Sun Conference tournament led the field with 10 honorees. The Seahawks had eight players named to the First Team and two players named to the Second Team. No. 6 St. Thomas was second with seven, followed by SCAD Savannah with four, Florida Memorial with three, Southeastern with two and Webber and Ave Maria with one.
