AVE MARIA, Fla. --- The Ave Maria men's and women's tennis teams fell in a pair of midweek matches against Lewis University and Cornerstone University. The Gyrenes return to the court on Saturday against Aquinas at 1 p.m. in Orlando.

The Ave Maria men's tennis team dropped an 8-1 decision against Lewis on Monday afternoon. Alvaro Davila picked up a win at six singles (6-1, 6-1) for the Blue and Green's lone point. On Wedneday afternoon, AMU fell to (RV) Cornerstone 6-3. The double team of Elias Zaghra and Teddy Pince won at one-doubles, 8-4. Playing at one-singles, Zaghra won 6-2, 6-4. Zach Sadusky also won his singles match 8-6.

On the women's side, the Lady Gyrenes fell to Lewis 9-0 before falling to Cornerstone 4-3. Against Cornerstone, the Lady Gyrenes picked up a win at one-doubles, 8-3, from Marianna Vargas and Mary Kate Lee. The duo also won their respective singles matches, Vargas by a score of 6-1, 6-0 at one-singles and Lee by a score of 6-0, 6-0 at two-singles.Â
