Dance Opens Season in Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The Ave Maria Competitive Dance team opened their 2025 season on the road in Indiana, participating in two competitions hosted by Marian University. Both competitions featured host Marian, Ave Maria, Siena Heights (Mich.), Saint Xavier (Ill.) and Indiana Tech. The Gyrenes finished third in both competitions.

In the first competition, the Gyrenes posted a final score of 65.2, beating out Saint Xavier, who scored 59.3, and Indiana Tech, who scored 52.5. Ave Maria was just 5.2 points behind host Marian who finished second with a score 70.4. Sienna Heights won the competition with a score of 77.9.

The order of finish was the exact same in the second competition, with the Gyrenes finishing ahead of Saint Xavier and Indiana Tech again and ending behind Marian and Sienna Heights. The Gyrenes improved their score from the first competition, posting a 68.9. The Gyrenes improved their scores in four of the five categories the teams are judged on in the second competition, improving in the POM category, the Hip Hop category, the Team Turn Sequence and finally the general category including grades on uniformity and choreography.

Seina Heights won again with a score of 76.9 followed my Marian at 74.3. After the Gyrenes, it was Saint Xavier at 62.2 and Indiana Tech at 54.2.

The Gyrenes are happy to finally get the 2025 season underway and are excited to get to their next competition. The schedule continues with the Benedictine Challenge in Atchison, Kansas, on March 2.
