Dance Competes Twice in Kansas

ATHISON, Kan. — The Ave Maria Dance team competed twice in Kansas Sunday, March 2, first dancing in the Benedictine Challenge against three other schools and then taking on the host Ravens themselves in a dual meet. It is the second time the Gyrenes have competed in the Benedictine Challenge, but the first time they have taken on the Ravens in a head to head dual meet.

The Gyrenes took to the floor first in the Benedictine Challenge kicking off the afternoon. The Gyrenes posted a score of 62 points, which placed them fourth of the four teams competing. Host Benedictine won the Challenge with 76.67 points, followed by St. Mary with 65.07 and York with 63.53.

In the dual meet, the Gyrenes posted a slightly better score of 63.20, but still fell to the Ravens who again eclipsed the 70-point mark with a score of 75.60.

The Gyrenes return back home to Ave Maria still looking for that first win, but are proud of the scores they put up in Kansas.
