TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The Ave Maria University men's Ultimate Frisbee team competed successfully at the Tally Classic XIX tournament held in Tallahassee on March 15, finishing with an undefeated record.
Entering as the tournament's top seed, Ave Maria received a first-round bye before beginning their series of games. The Gyrenes opened with a 15-3 win over LSU in their first contest of the day.
Ave Maria continued in bracket play with a 15-6 victory against Central Florida. The team maintained consistent play throughout the match.
In the championship game of the tournament, the Gyrenes faced Auburn in a competitive final. Ave Maria secured an 11-7 win, completing their tournament run and claiming the Tally Classic XIX title.
"We played this tournament to glorify God. We were tremendously blessed, to Him be the glory," Coach Middendorf shared following the team's performance.
The tournament victory builds upon Ave Maria's growing reputation in collegiate Ultimate Frisbee, with this championship further validating the program's strength and development. The experience gained against quality opposition will serve the team well as they continue their spring campaign.
