The Ave Maria University Marching Band Ensemble, formed in 2021, is a non-competitive undergraduate student ensemble in which quality music education and social experiences are provided in various ways. As an athletic band, the ensemble’s primary function is to perform at university athletic events, providing a spirited atmosphere to support teams and fans and to entertain during competition breaks. Moreover, the ensemble, particularly during the concert band season, in congruence with the vision of the Ave Maria University Music Department, will provide students with engagement in authentic
musicing that will challenge and develop their musical mastery.
Student members build community and culture within the team and on our campus as they uphold the standards of tradition that richly unite each Catholic heart. While advancing in music skills, students enjoy putting shows together during rehearsals that unite the band family in fellowship of Christ and passion for music while igniting Gyrene fans as they cheer for victory.
The band motto, Building Tradition, Defining the Standard, encapsulates the dedication and excellence that our members bring to every practice and performance. As they put it, “we’re about developing different values, customs, and a legacy for new members to uphold and continue in the future as much as striving for new levels of excellence regarding our performances, leadership, and spiritual life.”
