We Are the Marching Gyrenes

The band program at Ave Maria University had its beginnings in the fall of 2020, a season in which current students and alumni alike banded together to bring the spirit of pep music to football games. Thanks to the support and vision of AMU’s founder, Tom Monaghan, the program evolved into a fully fledged marching band in the fall of 2021. Since then, the band passionately performs at athletic and community events as well as featured symphonic band concerts. The AMU Marching Band includes students of all ages and years in the undergraduate program. Additionally, its members make up a diverse range of backgrounds and interests, including Majors from every area of study at AMU. The program is proud of the musical excellence that has been developed over the years as students with significant experience in the marching arts have bolstered its ranks.

Scholarships are available for incoming and transfer students based on their experience in high school marching and concert band programs. This also includes those with dance experience wishing to be a part of the Color Guard team. These scholarships are renewable and are in addition to any other institutional scholarship awards a student may receive.

The commitment to the AMU Marching Band also includes receiving 1 credit towards academic study per semester of membership and involvement, whether the member is a Music Major or not.

The Marching Band is under the direction of Mr. Trenton Phillips O’Neil, who can be contacted here: Trenton.ONeil@avemaria.edu
