LAKE WORTH, Fla. — The Ave Maria Women's Golf team wrapped up their 2025-26 campaign at the Sun Conference Championship at Fountains Country Club. The Gyrenes finished sixth out of seven teams, matching their performance at the 2025 conference championship.
Gianna Reginelli led the round one effort for Ave Maria. The freshman sunk a birdie on hole 18 and finished the day shooting 9-over-par. Lauren Stewart and Maya Berglund both finished the day at 10-over-par, with Berglund kicking in a birdie. Gracie Milam was just a stroke behind them at 11-over-par to round out the group.
As a team, the Gyrenes shot 40-over-par and were in sixth place. Ave Maria was 11 strokes behind Coastal Georgia in fifth place, and 88 strokes ahead of St. Thomas in last place.
The Gyrenes shot better as a team on day two, shaving 10 strokes off their score. Reginelli attacked the links Monday, dropping four birdies and finishing with an even 72. Stewart knocked in three birdies and ended the round at 7-over-par. Berglund carded a birdie and finished the round 8-over-par. Marissa Spreitzer got into the scoring quartet for the first time on Monday with a score of 15-over-par.
Ave Maria ended round two with a team score of 30-over-par and 70-over-par for the whole tournament. Despite knocking off 10 strokes, the Gyrenes were still in sixth place behind Coastal Georgia.
In the final round on Tuesday. Stewart led the way finishing the day at 10-over-par. Berglund knocked in a birdie to finish second on the team at 11-over-par. Spreitzer improved in the third round, carding one birdie and shooting 14-over-par. Milam got back into the top four on Tuesday, finishing the day at 87 strokes.
As a team, Ave Maria shot 50-over-par in the final round, their highest score of the tournament. The Gyrenes remained in sixth place, finishing 16 strokes behind Coastal Georgia in fifth place and 202 strokes ahead of St. Thomas in seventh place.
SCAD won the tournament with a final team score of 33-over-par.
Individually, Reginelli and Stewart both finished tied for 19th at +27 overall. Berglund finished in 22nd place shooting a +29. Spreitzer finished in 30th place shooting a +42. Milam finished tied for 31st place shooting 46 strokes over par.
