PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. — The Ave Maria Women's Golf team kicked off their 2026-27 season at the PGA National Resort Fazio Course in Palm Beach Gardens. The Gyrenes finished near the back of the pack Monday and Tuesday, taking 14^th place of 15 teams.

The morning round on Monday was the best round as a group for the Gyrenes, shooting an overall 45-over-par. Gianna Reginelli led the team at 5-over in the first 18 holes, logging one birdie and 11 pars. Lauren Stewart was just a stroke behind her 6-over par. Maya Berglund was third at +14 and Gianna Moresi rounded out the group with a +20. Berglund and Moresi each carded a birdie as well. After the first round, the Gyrenes were in 14^th place and stayed there for the final two rounds.

The afternoon on Monday was the toughest of the tournament for the Gyrenes, shooting an overall 53-over-par. Reginelli again led the way, improving on her score from the opening round by a stroke. The sophomore from Ohio shot 4-over-par in the second round and logged two birdies on holes 17 and 18. Stewart was second on the team with a +11, followed by Berglund at +16 and Moresi at +22. Moresi carded her second birdie of the tournament in the second round.

Ave Maria was just a stroke behind their first round score in the finale on Tuesday with an overall score of 46-over-par. Continuing the trend of getting better, Reginelli again improved by a stroke and turned a score of +3 in the final round. She birdied two more holes and recorded 13 pars. In fact, the sophomore was just one hole away from shooting even in the round. Stewart and Berglund tied for second on the team, each at 13-over-par. Stewart carded her first birdie of the tournament on hole 16. Moresi rounded out the group at +17.

Through all three rounds, the Gyrenes stayed in 14^th place with a total score of +144. They finished ahead of one team, the Lake Sumter Lakehawks, who shot a group 322-over-par.

Reginelli finished tied for 19^th individually in a field of 92 golfers, shooting 12-over-par across the three rounds. Stewart finished tied for 60^th, Berglund tied for 79^th, Moresi finished 85^th and Ava Bartosiak, who was the fifth Gyrene to compete but did not make the card, finished 86^th.

Host Keiser won the event with a team total of 23-over-par. Marian finished second and Indiana Wesleyan finished third. The individual winner was from Keiser.

The Gyrenes are back on the links October 5 and 6 as they tee off in the Jupiter Collegiate Invitational at Jonathan's Landing Country Club in Jupiter, Florida.
